Yet, it looks like SoftBank will win out. The company said it expected to close its merger with Sprint in July, and the deal received security clearance on Wednesday (DISH had been waging a campaign to nix the deal on the grounds of national security).

Of course Dish can always raise its offer like it did for Clearwire at the last minute...

I don't see DISH getting Sprint or Clear wire. All the market people keep saying as much that I read each day. I see them forcing up the amount other companies have to pay because of their bids, but I don't see DISH getting the company or Clear wire.

Interesting....Exclusive: SoftBank eyes T-Mobile US as 'Plan B' as the Japanese company looks for alternatives to enter the U.S. wireless market if its $20.1 billion deal with Sprint Nextel Corp (S.N) falls apart, according to three sources familiar with the situation on Friday http://finance.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-softbank-eyes-t-mobile-193643098.html

If Dish takes Sprint and Softbank takes T-mobile, I think that's a win for everyone. Should bring a lot of competition for Verizon and AT&T.

I am hearing rumblings that SoftBank is thinking if pulling out of the Sprint deal. If this is true then it's huge for Dish.

...but not surprising. Companies looking for acquisitions always have backup plans.

I've heard this as well. Very surprising but very good news for dish other than the extra 5 billion will go to SoftBank for breakup fees and the money they've already given to sprint.

I think Charlie wants at least a guarantee to tower rights with his spectrum even if he don't get Sprint by getting a chunk of Clearwire.
