Dish Network Activation

Hello,

Can someone pls briefly explain what all happens when you call dishnetwork for activation? I am thinking dishnetwork put in some sort of activation password in their satellite and beam it down to ur dish and ur dish receiver knows how to turn on and start playing programs.. ?

I condone illegal programing receiving, but what prevents one from adding another receiver without paying for an additional receiver fee?

easy...they send the signal to the receiver for programming

the receiver has to be activated by dish. the stream coming from the satellite will tell the receiver what is ok to be shown. you can't just add a receiver to the setup, it will not work.

The signal sent to the receiver is it unique just to your receiver, or is it received by all dish/receivers in the planet?

It's sent to everyone but only your receiver recognizes the code.
