Because I subscribe to the cheapest qualifying programming package I am not allowed to watch this weekend Freeview. DISH has decided that I can't decide what I want to watch.

Are you positive you just don't need to download a new guide? The free preview channels are on channel 285-298. If Dish is doing that to customers then they are becoming a sorry company.

Ok, you mean blocking/blacking out. I thought you meant they were actually censoring what was on HBO (no nudity, swearing etc).

Seems like more work than it's worth. Especially since people at the lowest levels would be the ones they want to upgrade.

Don't feel bad. I don't have them either. I did get them the last time they had a preview, but not this time apparently. I guess since I cancelled HBO/Cinemax last year and downgraded I'm not worthy. (I'm not.)

Aww don't be so hard on yourself. Of course you are worth a free preview weekend!

Why is everybody talking in code? Come out and say what programming package you have that's being blocked from the free preview.

I'm getting the standard defintion preview, but not the HD version. I've always gotten the HD version the previous times they've had a preview.

Okay, think about this for a moment......

The family pack is the cheapest qualified programming pack, but that is probably not the point. I would guess it is blocked out because HBO isn't family oriented! They don't show non family oriented material in the family pack, why should they do a free preview showing the Sopranos then??

seems weird i guess only aep gets free preview
free pre view is free preview
doesnt matter if all customer has is locals or sub to every channel under the sun
free preview channels free to all customers
but then again its dish

family pack no locals no free previews

Because obviously programming like the Sopranos, Big Love, Sex Games: Vegas. Hotel Erotica Cabo should be sent uninvited to family pack subscribers.

exactly

Good example is my StarChoice system. I have the Digital Basic package. In the description it say "No Additional Channels can be added" yet I get the freeviews when they have them (right now I get the Fight Network which is in a freeview until the end of the month)

Stone -
I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. This actually makes a lot of sense. If I had the family pak it would be because i only wanted to see family friendly things. HBO DOES NOT show family friendly shows. I pay for and enjoy HBO but I can understand the logic here. What if you had the family pak and your 10 year old had a TV in his room and you haven't used any parental controls (because you have the family pak and you know exactly what channels come in to your house) and suddenly the HBOs show up? There is a bunch of stuff on there that I wouldn't want my imaginary 10 year old to see. =) I know you are an adult and would love to see the free preview, but I understand this one and actually applaud Dish for this decision. Feel free to disagree, it won't hurt my feelings.

funny qvc is family programming but abc family channel is not, what the heck is dish thinking
from now on they should have disclaimer free preview to all except family pack, but they wouldnt come right out and say that

FALSE ADVERTISING AS US FAMILY PACK SUBS GET NO FREE PREVIEW

stone, if you were arguing that HBO Family should be made available during the free preview you'd have a point. But you're arguing that violence, vulgarity, and softcore porn should be sent into the homes of people that choose a programming package with a explicit goal to be free of such material.

Are you sure you are looking at the proper channel numbers? I subscribe to AT60 and channels 285-299 have a free preview of HBO and Cinemax. They also remapped HBOHD in that range. However, I don't get any program descriptions for those remapped channels.
