If I were to get Turbo Gold with no DVR and no locals, would i still get my local RSNs.
It would appear so.

If I added Platinum my bill would be $49.99 correct?
Yup

Also, does anyone know if Encore HD will be in the Encore pack? One Encore is left out of the pack already.

Good question. I didn't know they still had a separate Encore package.

The question is, which Encore feed is left out of the Encore pack? West or East? West is included with AT250, east is included with the Starz pack.

Presumably, Starz subscribers would be getting Encore HD and not AT250. If you get East now, you should get HD, if you get west, probably not.

But no one knows. And by no one, I mean there's probably a guy at Dish in charge of this who didn't even think of that.

Here we go again. I am only responding to clear up this false information.

Direct has never once, never, never, never, counted their sports package channels and still doesn't count them towards their totals.

Of course people will just continue to post this as a fact and I have no idea where they get this information from...

Before D* added any new HD channels, they did hint that they would count the sports package HD channels. However, once the new channels started appearing, D* didn't actually include them.

Ok this is totally jacked up.

Before I downgraded to the current HD Absolute I was paying 81 after all taxes and fees a month for AT250 plus HD.

10 bucks for WFN HD but 4x3 all the time and a bunch of other channels that are not worth 10 bucks. One would think that Dish would have learned their lesson with VOOM. 10 bucks is NOT worth it to get these channels. I just got the channels by going absolute last month and I can tell you the only one I think is ok is Smithonian. They should have eliminated platinum and just thrown in the channels in Gold. 10 bucks is about the price of a movie back for crying out loud. You would be better off spending 15 bucks more on top of Gold and get HBO with it.

With this logic I might as well go back to AT250 plus basic HD pack and get Comedy Central and Spike TV back.

60 is WAY too much for this stand alone package. Once they raise the rates again I probably will just go back to the AT250 because the price is not that much more.

Can someone explain the difference between the silver and gold packages, other than price? They appear to be the same to me, programming-wise.
We are assuming it is the same as the diff between the hd channels simulcasted in AT200 and AT250... or the rough equivalent of :

TENNIS
BIO
HALLMARK MOVIE
GOLF/VS
SCIENCE
NAT GEO
PLANET GREEN (come Aug 1)

That may be true, but they never actually counted them. Hinting is not the same as doing.

In all fairness you did say suggested and did not actually say they did. Sorry to jump on your post. Just wanted to clear up any confusion.

I have carefully read though 5+pages in this thread and 10+ pages in the Retailer Recap thread . As a sub to "dishHD Absolute" w/ locals with a single ViP622, I still do not know what channels will be in my EPG or how much my Dish bill will be on Aug 1st  And I'm betting my local Dish retailer doesn't know either

What passes for a Dish marketing team should to be drawn and quartered, after having their fingernails pulled out and spending a little time on a water board for this confusing fiasco.

Speculation is 7 channels:
TENNIS
BIO
HALLMARK MOVIE
GOLF/VS
SCIENCE
NAT GEO
PLANET GREEN

NOT confirmed! These are the current 6/7 extra channels you get today when you go from AT200 to AT250.

Count me still confused! I get AT200 plus locals (or as my billing shows it since my 24-month commitment upgrade in May, DHA200 plus locals), plus dishHD Essentials, plus Starz, plus Cinemax. Come August, will the dishHD Essentials still exist for me at my current $10/month price? I don't really care if I get any of the new, non-premium HD channels in August, I just don't want my bill to change and I don't want to lose any of the HD channels I already have in the dishHD Essentials package. All this metalic turbo talk makes it sound like the dishHD Essentials package will be history in August.

I assume I'll get the new Starz HD channels as a subscriber to Starz and I'll probably get a rate increase for Starz sometime in the next few months. So be it. The wife and I will be very pleased to have more HD movies channels. We find we watch a lot more movies and some of the same movies more times if they are in HD. One of the best parts of our current package is the HD movies channels.

Any additional HD is a good thing. I am thrilled for those subscribers to HBO and STARZ as now they can really begin to enjoyed their multicast channels in HD.

I do have to admit, why the upgrade for those premiums and no upgrade for SHOWTIME/MOVIE CHANNEL? Hopefully for those that subscribe to those services, they'll be able to soon take advantage of the multicasts!

Personally, this will add MOREMAX and the LIFETIME channels and CBS College Sports. I'm grateful for those come August 1.

I do find it interesting that none of the VIACOM channels have been announced for HD? Perhaps that will come the next round of additions?

And that's not even considering the question of, why mess with the existing packages now when Eastern Arc is coming up?

Folks these new packages are only for folks who signed up for HD the first time. Everyone else will still pay the same for now. Starting next year we will see a price increase.

I hope you are right. Paying an additional $20/month Aug 1st for RSN's and a few channels that I won't watch doesn't work.

At this point it seems that Dish is trying to push current customers away.

Also, would someone send Charlie a calculator...he doesn't get the whole math thing.

I think we're all just a little too used to complaining around here... how about this one..

Yay! New National HD channels by the end of this month!

I couldn't agree more, I am really looking forward to all the HD movies on the new channels. Better get myself a few more external hard drives :-).

So does this mean that anyone already signed up for Starz and HBO will get the new HD HBO and Starz channels? If so, awesome:-)

There are two Bronze, two Silver, two Gold and two Platinum offerings starting 8/1. Essentials will be called HD Bronze, HD Silver, HD and HD Gold, and cost $10 and will correspond to the HD Level of programming that is in the AT packages. HD Ultimate will be renamed HD Platinum and will cost an additional $10. There are no price changes associated with the change from the name Essentials and Ultimate, just a name change to the metal names.

There will now be three levels of HD Only (Absolute), and it appears these will contain the HD channels that are currently available in the AT packages w/HD Essentials - TurboHD Bronze with contain the HD channels that are in the AT100 w/HD Essentials, TurboHD Silver will contain the HD channels that are in the AT200 w/HD Essentials and TurboHD Gold will contain the HD channels that are in the AT250 w/HD Essentials. To get the channels in the current HD Ultimate $10 package (that have no SD version) you'll be required to upgrade your TurboHD Gold to TurboHD Platinum for $10 more.

Oh I see, thankyou. So we just went back to adding a metallic name to the top programming pack of your choice. But if you want all the hd channels and just the hd channels alone, like we have today with hd absolute for 29.99 , it will cost you more : Gold turbo hd pack at $49.99 + platinum pack for $10.00 more so a total of $59.99 or a $ 30.00 increase over the absolute hd pack at $29.99.

After looking back at the thread, you are right, only 7 platinum channels so for what it is worth, I agree with your sheet. BTW, in the gold column, you have 39 channels (row 41- row 2 = 39 rows - darn math!) and Dish counts VS/Golf as two channels I believe. That gives you 40.

I think...

Dish doesnt count VS/Golf as two channels, DirecTV does
