DISH Reaches Long Term Agreement with DISNEY / ESPN / ABC

Does anyone ever actually read what Scott writes in this thread? Or are we trolling?

I'll bet nothing will change at all. Then later, when all the fine details are settled, we may see some additions.

There is no new contract yet (?), right? If there is no new contract, how can ESPN still be on tomorrow? A new temporary agreement?

Per Scott's note, the hangup is digital rights. I hope there is more to this than just ESPN360 ~ a lot of us are hoping for something more ~ ESPNU in HD, Disney Jr., ABC Fam in HD, etc. Business as usual tomorrow with no new info would be frustrating. How many more pages can we speculate in this thread??

In regard to still having ESPN/Disney tomorrow, both sides can agree to keep talking and keep signal up

I'm siding with you on this one Navy. I don't think anything will change tomorrow. Maybe down the road they'll work on the other channels.

Your probably correct that nothing will change tomm...... and then maybe some point down the road we might see some other channels....... how long will that be...... I'm sure I'm not the only person who mistakingly thought all this would have been worked out before today......... I should have known better.

In regards to WatchESPN I noticed that in commercials cable companies run to promote it such as this one...

...they use as a selling point that it's "not available on satellite". I wonder if the sticking point is that ESPN promised the Cable Cartels exclusivity in access to the feature to give them an advantage over satellite and ESPN is balking at breaking those commitments.

So no new contract yet which means no new HD channels for now.

Essentially Dish agreed to pay ESPN/Disney whatever the final contract decides for programming starting tomorrow until the contract is signed.

It looks like all the Disney properties are on the line (not just ESPN channels).

problems with DVD and DVR since hooking up new TV
