Trying to tune up dish. Picking up few things such as axis and some nasa channels. having a hard time finding my true south at my location it should be 85w or 87w 85 might be yard due house in the way. I'm at 41.9 lat and 83.35long. any ideas anyone trying to get this up and running for a fta system Thanks

The loss of the satellite at 83.0°W puts a kink in trying to point for due south for sure. What kind of dish and mount do you have? Pictures will do wonders for getting some suggestions. Please post some of the back of the dish showing the mount and where the adjustments are made. What tools do you have to assist you in aiming the dish? Compass , level, angle finder, smart phone apps, etc.

Have you checked the elevation and offset angles on the dish to make sure they're where they should be? I'd check plumb on the pole also to make sure it's right. (Unlikely, but possible) It sounds like a new install, right? If the elevation and offset isn't correct, it won't track properly.

Dishpointer doesn't give many visual clues for due south there, I believe.

But: you can find due south with the sun method!
I use this calculator: Satellite Look Angle Calculator
At the specified time your LNB should have its shadow exactly in the horizontal middle of the dish (Sun azimuth exactly the same as satellite azimuth).
