Heres a chart of my signal levels on TP3 from last night. You can see when they took down the conus beam and lit the spot. 3dB increase, woohoo!

The beams are here!
Which "map" at ekb would give an idea as to the 61.5 beam coverage? I only see 2, rainbow one & the pdf.(rainbow 1 ). Both seem a little vague for beam locations or I am not interpreting them correctly. Is there a 61.5 beam coverage map out there that I am missing?

Some may want to know that Green Bay, WI and Grand Rapids, MI are in this update. They are in area 4. You may note that the channels listed in the report were added on the March 5 report. The blooper was caused by the channels having duplicate numbers.

Could someone please explain what the Transponder changes on TP15 mean?

For example, what does the following change do to/for the Area 4 Beam?

Echostar12 61.5 TP 15 Area 4 beam changed FEC from 5/6 to 2/3
Echostar12 61.5 TP 15 Area 4 beam changed modulation scheme from QPSK to 8PSK
Echostar12 61.5 TP 15 Area 4 beam changed symbol rate from 20000 MSPS to 21500 MSPS

Is this the last step on a spot beam before the channels on that spot can be made "available"?

Thanks in advance - Talon Dancer

The transponder switched to 8PSK modulation thereby allowing more bandwidth and better HD for the locals. It has an effect on the results, but is not really a "last" step kind of thing.

Thanks JohnH. Sorry for the nOOb questions But I'd like to understand these up-link reports better.

I assume that increasing the "symbol rate from 20000 MSPS to 21500 MSPS" is also a good thing for bandwidth/quality. But have no idea what changing the "FEC from 5/6 to 2/3" does.

Thanks again -- Talon Dancer

Changing the FEC(Forward Error Correction) from 5/6 to 2/3 reduces the available bandwidth but increases noise correction reserve. 8PSK is likely to have more noise problems.

Thanks again. It all sounds pretty promising :) Now all I need is a dish pointed towards 61.5. And of course, for digiblur's report to show the Austin HD locals are available.
