Do I need second swm odu pl 21

Directv installed the dish and the one line swm...tv and receiver work great and can record 2 channels. The tech told me to go to Best Buy and get another hd dvr for my second tv. I have activated the new receiver with directv and was told i did not need a 2nd swm odu. I cannot record 2 programs so I called directv and they would not let me buy another swm odu. . they said go to best buy...is this correct?

How did you connect the new DVR to the system? The SWM dish can support a maximum of 8 tuners, so your total of 4 shouldn't be a problem. You need an SWM splitter. Also, the line to the DVR needs to connect to the Sat In 1 input. Also make sure you have the DVR setup to enable both tuners.

I connected the cable to the sat 1. I get a good signal but can only record 1 channel.

Don't things have to be powered up in a certain order to work right in a SWM system?
