Receivers that stay powered on came from the early days of Cband. The LNA's were quite unstable and if you remove the power from the LNA it would take a minute for the picture to stabilize due to the drift. Todays LNB's are NOT as temperature and voltage sensitive as they were then.

Leave mine on standby. I have another receiver slaved to my Coolsat. Otherwise, I'd probably just turn it off.
