does a dish deteriorate?

I've been using a 75cm Starchoice dish/lnb in Mexico for about 8 years. I'm now finding the best signal I can align the dish for is lower than a few years ago. I have a friend with a brand new dish a few feet from mine and when I attach to his identical dish the signal strength is much higher. Is there such thing as the dish surface deteriorating over time? Or, can an lnb deteriorate over time?

I would say it is more likely the LNBF and cable that is loosing a little signal. Try replacing the Connectors, they might have a bit of corrosion.

Peaking signal on a ShawDirect 75cm dish is not easy!!! You might be a millimiter off on one of the 3 settings and that could be it... Wind can do that or movement on the surface on which the dish is installed.

check connections or possibly the LNB is starting to go
But if it only dropped a little bit there is nothing to worry about
