does anyone remember when satellite was the provider to have?

Where I live it is virtually impossible to receive any single via OTA, so back in the early 60's a local business man started a cable company. It had 5 channels and cost $3 a month. By the time my wife and I married in 76, it had about 12 channels and the cost was $5.95. At that time the service number to call for problems was still the businessman's home phone. Now that was service.

I'm really not sure if my area Ft Walton Beach would be considered small but the only cable provider is COX and I hate their picture. I guess seeing as we have 1 DSL provider and 1 cable provider we'd be a medium sized town yet compared to my old area which seemed much larger, Satellite seems to be a heavily used service in our area.
