Hi Guys - first post.

I have a really cheap OTA antenna connected to a DirecTV AM21, as well as the cable input on my TV.

I have heard that the DirecTV AM21 does not support amplified input. Anyone know the answer?

Sure it does. When I had my AM21 I had it hooked to an amplified outdoor antenna. Worked fine

who told you it wouldn't work

A DirectTV installer when he was installing one for a friend of mine that had an amplified antenna.
I'm pretty uninformed about OTA antennas. Which amplified one would you recommend. I'm about 20 miles at pretty much the same direction from the stations.

I'm running an amplified signal through mine.

Sounds like he was just wrong. Do you think an amplified antenna when you are 20 miles away would help? The signal isn't terrible now, but it fluctuates.

Without really any info as to which market you are in and terrain we can't really answer that question

What's the furthest out your antenna has ever reached?
