Does Receiver (Hopper) have to be on to connect to sling?

I recently purchased a Hopper & Joey and also a sling adapter. I am wondering if the receiver must always stay on in order to connect to the sling via dishonline.com? Reason I ask, is I have the inactivity set to automatically turn off the receiver after a few hours of inactivity. If I try to connect thru dishonline.com, will it wake up the sling/receiver?

It will wake the beast up. As long as plugged in, they are always on to some degree.
