trying to rebuild my sv 360 premier, starting by running/loading the sv360Premier_syscleanfile.rom via serial cable with the program downloader_v1.1
i've started this a few times now, when it starts, a window pops up 'data transfer' and seems to be stuck.
sometimes the 360 seems to come back to normal, eg, i can use the remote to do all the menu things, and then it all crashes again and i get 8888 or 8 on the display, all the while while the 'data transfer window still there.

the 'data transfer' window just stays there forever?
is that the way this works?, it never gives a 'finished' message?
there is a stop button which kills it, how long should i give to finish?
it just doesn't recognize the usb for some reason
i'm starting to wonder if this thing is fixable at all, or just really flakey

This is the method I use for your receiver, don't know whether it is the same as you have done. If it does not work you may have a corrupt bootstrap file.

For Serial Port loading:

1. Turn OFF the Premier OFF completely
2. Connecting the Premier and PC with Null modem cable
3. Press&Hold front panel OK button, at the same time switch read switch Receiver ON, Loading Menu will display.
4. Open Loader 1.1
5. Click Connect to choose Com Port
6. Choose new 360 Premier SAT FILE and let it update
7. When all update are done, do a power recycle (reboot)
8. Do setup and sat scan.

no loading menu

thanks for the reply,
ok followed that procedure, and didn't get a load menu, so is there someway to reload/rebuild the bootstrap, file, i guess thats a rom/firmware somewhere?
i have the SV360Premier FACTORY 0105.rom that came on the cd, but i have to be able to get the unit to load that just like the clean .rom, right?

one thing that i think somebody said in one of the posts somewhere, that you need both the left/right (red white) audio cables in use? could that be? my tv i'm using by my pc only has video and the white audio jacks, so thats all i'm using, the video and the white?

loader

thanks for the suggestion, the cable came with the unit, so i'm assuming it is a null modem and i know the port is ok,
in fact there is connection info that indicates a connection is made, see attachment

Cable should be Ok, it might be worth checking connections between plugs on pins 3 thru to 2 and 2 thru to 3. Forgot to mention data transfers can take 3/4 minutes but it does flash up complete.

or

Have you tried loading from USB:

BY-STEP GUIDE TO UPDATING YOUR SONICVIEW 360Premier/Elite

1. go to files section and download latest bin file for your receiver to your desktop

2. extract the file from CD to your desktop

3. ensure you have a dedicated USB stick for loading files, do not have other files on it

4. format the USB stick in FAT format with your computer by going to My Computer and right clicking on the drive and choosing “format” option. Do not choose quick format

5. load the extracted file from your PC to your USB i.e. cut and paste (not drag and drop)

6. remove USB from your PC

7. if your 360 is on, turn if off using the remote, then turn off from the back switch (main power)

8. insert USB in front slot and turn on main power from back

9. hit Menu choose PVR, Options USB devices choose Front

10. you will see your file in the list

11. it should be highlighted. hit OK

12. choose S/W update and let the file load

13. DO NOT REMOVE USB as it loads!!!

14. Once loaded you will get a message to Reboot, choose YES

15. DO NOT REMOVE USB as it reboots!!!

16. wait until main screen loads. once rebooted and at main screen you will have to remove the USB. The 360E is equipped with a “safe remove” option, but not the 360P. To remove safely for either, turn the unit off again by using the remote control, then turn off by back switch.

17. remove your USB

18. turn power on again from back

Re scan
