You'd be surprised there are a few die hard hams around that have these set-ups and are computer controlled.

do the s-band LNBFs exist and are they relatively inexpensive (under $100?).

It wouldn't be hard for me to homebrew a manual-controlled 2 axis tracker (one switch for up/down, one for left/right) and it'd be fun to try to pull in that signal.
