I am considering purchasing a usb dvb tuner and was wondering if I can connect the dvb tuner to the loop-out port on my stb? My current dish setup is a 1 meter dish with a universal circular lnb and a staab motor. Does the dvb use the same sats as fta? Yes, I am a total newbie to this. Be kind.

The loop out should work. You normally have to put the STB in standby to allow the slave device on the loop out port to fully control the dish and polarity.

I don't see how you're picking up much FTA with a universal circular LNBF. Are you sure you didn't mean linear? I'm not aware of any FTA DVB-S2/8PSK signals with circular polarity so you would need to replace the LNBF with a linear.
