DVR 508 local channels

I am getting a 508 DVR and was wondering if anyone that has one is able to receive local programming guide info? I would like to record my local channels. I asked the salesperson but she didn't sound too sure.

If your local channels are offered by Dish and you subscribe to them, you sure can record your local channels programs. I record Sesame Street for my daughter from my local PBS channel every day.

If you are gonna hook up an antenna feed to the 508 then you can't record them.

I have an antenna hooked up so I can get HD locals. So the 508 will not decode OTA locals?

You'll be able to watch them but you can't record them.

Are you sure you meant the 508. The 508 is not HD and doesn't have an off the air tuner at all.

Jayn j is right, the 508 is a standard DVR receiver and not a HD receiver. You can check the back connections of the 508 here:

I currently have an 811 which decodes the OTA channels and I can see them in my guide. I wanted to know if the 508 could also decode the over the air channel data and put it in my guide but it does not, only the HD DVR decode the OTA channels. oh well
