I just got my DVR 510 back from a friend, who had it hooked up to a dual dish configuration pointing at satellite 119 I believe. The firmware has changed since I last had the 510, and I cannot access the DVR or anything else at this point. I am going to be on 61.5, but I do not know how to change the DVR to point to 61.5, or to even watch my recorded programs on the DVR until my service is restored. I need to do the setup so I can call E* to restore my service. Help!

Go to your IR a press 6 and twice 1 when you are in your point signal feature go to check switch and press test,BTW the software on 5XX pvr right now is 369.

OK I ran a check switch, have the Dish pointed at the correct angle (rough estimate at this point), and I am getting no signal strength. Do I just keep slowly moving the dish around the Azimuth 166, Elevation 42 until I get some signal strength?

If you want to aligned your dish use tp 29.

I'm not sure what you're after pointing at 61.5, but I'm going to guess that you're looking for some sort of international programming. I'm relatively certain that you're going to need a second dish. The question is whether or not Dish Network can activate your receiver if you aren't pointed at 110 or 119.

There are plenty of HD Ch on 61.5 too.

Int'l programming is all I can get from my apartment balcony, yes. Can anyone confirm that with the new firmware I am not able to view my previously recorded programs on the 510 until I have a signal? In the past I could use the dvr function, even without a dish signal. Now, I get an error "Unable to access this feature at this time: data not available."

OK, so I got the dish set up and activated my 510. I then realized that the smart card was missing. My friend apparently lost it. I tried the smart card from my 921, but no luck. I called E* and they want 50+ for a new one. Do I have any other legal options? Any way to reprogram my 921 smart card for the 510?

OK so I am using my 311 until said amigo ponies up for a new card. I asked E* tech support about setting up the 921, and they said that I would need a different lnb to do that. What is the cheapest way to switch out my current single lnb to something that would work with the 921? Pics and or links would be greatly appreciated.

I did some searching on the site and found this:
"The new Dish 1000.2 is almost just like the current Dish 1000, it still only picks up 110, 119 and 129. The dish is the same size, however the mast is slightly longer then the current DISH 1000."

It looks like the DISH 500 is what I need for the 921, as I am on 61.5. Can anyone confirm that?
TIA

Thanks again, Smith, P. I'm learning a lot.
I will use OTA for local and HD channels, and E* only for Intl at this point, at least for the next few years until I move again and can see anything other than just 61.5. I would like a single satellite that would support the 510, 311, and/or 921. Is there a LNB I can attach to my 18 inch dish that will support any two of those receivers at once? If I wanted to use, say, the 921 and 311 at the same time, could a single dish support that? If so, how?
BTW my current plain vanilla dish has a single lnb with two coax outputs. Would that work on the 921, just for Intl?

You're looking for a DishPro Plus Twin. That, along with a separator, will allow you to use both satellite tuners on the 921.

The question of being able to receive program guide data from the satellite that you're pointing at remains.
