I have a hd dvr in the rec room downstairs,it has two coax to it and I have a standard box upstairs, with one coax to that. I want to get a standard dvr for the upstairs sony trinitron analog,do I have to run another line upstairs from the dish and how do you do that if need be?

For a SD DVR you will need 2 lines to have both tuners working.
That is the case, but if you're OK with only using 1 tuner you can get by with only 1 line. That means if you're recording a program you can't change the channel or record a second program - but you can watch a pre-recorded program while recording a new one.
