Hi,
I am new here!

I am looking for a DVR system which works much like a TiVo but receives data from a hi-end camcorder instead.
It must have a capability to play while recording, all simultaneously and continously.
It must also have the ability to play live, pause, rewind and forward, all while still recording.
I also need it to be accessible via our network

In other words, what i really need is a DVR with the hi-quality data stored and playback capabilities of a TiVo but the simplicity of a surveillance type DVR.

If there's such a system, or how can i acquire such, please tell me.

Thank you very much!

:welcome

A Media Center PC or an Apple will work. Anything that can capture video to hard drive with menu navigation but flexibility outside of a provider. Apple or PC is your best bet.

thanks for the replies! great!

if i'm going for a PC/Mac solution, is the only thing i'm gonna need is a DVR Card? Do i have to buy a card that receives video input?
How about DVR softwares? do you guys have any idea what to use?

actually this is what i really need to achieve: i want an instant replay system.
i want to be able to record a tennis/pingpong game while also displaying it on an HDTV screen. When somebody scores, it would be easy to rewind it (since TiVos can do this). This would be an interesting and fun way to play a certain sport. I know TiVo's and current DVRs can do this, i just don't know what types.

i am from the philippines and there aren't any available hi res/def DVRs because of the provider problem, except those DVRs being used for surveillance systems.

thanks!

All you need is a PC or Mac and a video capture card. Most video capture cards come with software to view the video signal and allow a connection to programming guide information. Another great software is Snapstream Beyond TV. If you have Vista, it has program guide info.
