DVR Without Dish?

I was wondering if my HD DVR will play back already recorded shows without the dish connected?

Yes it will just select my recordings.

Cool, so what will happen during start-up during "Searching for satellite signal..."?

There's probably a way to bypass that step.

Try menu then go to my recordings,i know it will work because i did it after removing my dish.

when it comes up with searching for satellite, hit menu, exit, or back, (forget which one) but it will bypass that step and take you to the black screen, then hit menu again to get to your recordings.
