Hmm. I just bought this cheap. cheap. Dish from Sadoun. Eagle Aspen 20" thinking I could attach my Ku lnb or a dish lnb so I can receive NASA channel on Ku.

I have not found a LNB that will fit the holder. Any one know what will fit? A dtv lnb is too lose.

Also my pole currently has a Super Dish on it. This is for a 1 1/2 OD pole is the Super Dish Pole mount wider? I remembered I thought it was bigger after I got it in the mail. :(

I am using a Dish 500 for NASA. Works great. I would try freecycle.org and ask for satellite equipment donations. Everyone is always trying to get rid of old Dish Network and DirecTV dishes. Actually, someone I work with is giving me an 18" dish later today :)

I wouldn't even spend money on a circular LNBF. You should find plenty of handouts.

Try to take the plastic shroud off the LNBF and then mount it on the dish as below:

oh ok. I was thinking that LNBF looked sorta skinned. :D

That worked. Thanks.

ugh. now the bolt to attach it to the dish is stripped. :(

Keep the Superdish and put in a smaller pole for thew 20 incher.

Well I'm not sure what Dish Network will want back from the Super Dish after I cancel. Might be able to fit a dtv lnb on the Dish Network dish.

Will painting a Super Dish hurt the signal? Any particular type of paint should I use? Dish Might come take my dish after I paint FTA on it. :)

From what I've been told (and seen), they usually just want the LNB assembly. They might not want those anymore, since the Superdishes are being retired. As for painting the dish, that isn't a problem as long as you don't use glossy paint. Glossy paint can turn the dish into a solar cooker, reflecting the heat from the sun directly at the LNB and damaging or destroying it. Flat paint is fine...

ok. Thanks. Now to decide on a color.

Well got my Eagle Aspen hooked up and without adjusting much other than leveling it hit Bell ExpressVu at 91 Degrees not much FTA there off to find 119 for my NASA channel. :)

Canceled it finally yesterday. They said I owned all equipment and didn't want any of it back. :) Nasa comes in fine. :D

uses for small dishes:

Besides the strong DBS circular satellites, some regular FTA can be had on small dishes, if you have some laying around.
Since you mentioned a SuperDish, I've included a thread on those:
