Eastern Arc Install Gone Sour (Smart Card?)

I've had mine about six weeks (?) I don't see why the smart card issue can't be individually addressed. After all, that is how they authorize programming (isn't it?) In other words if my receiver ID is J123245 (I know that's not the real format) and yours is J12346, why can't the people at Moon Base One turn on the smart card requirement for you and off for me? I would think that there is already a "built in" smart card (or some equivalent) but Dish wants to migrate to these cards for some reason. Since they have no incentive to move people in your situation to EA, they use the smart card issue to keep you on a leash. Part of the bargain when you allow them to be the master (by leasing). No offense intended but I keep getting people telling me how stupid I was was to buy the equipment. This issue is one example of an advantage. I might regret the decision later but I don't see any downside so far.
