in the coolsat series there are several groups
the 4000, 5000 and 6000 are the older SD receivers with the easy to navigate menus the 4000 & 6000 look alike and the 5000 & 6000 function alike ( except the 6000 has a bit more memory for EPG)
the 6100 7000 7100 are the new series SD receivers (the 7000 & 7100 have pvr functions)
the 8000 & 8100 are the new HD receivers (i think the 8100 has PVR and the 8000 doesn't)
the CoolDirector is a standalone type PVR ... (mpeg II recorder, also upconverts to 1080i) looks nice, a little late on the market should have been HD PVR or able to do both this says it does other video & photos without the need of a computer ( these are JMO)
