But the company's shares jumped more than 8 percent as the owner of the Dish Network posted about 340 000 new subscribers in the quarter and received permission to repurchase up to 1 billion in stock. CEO Charlie Ergen said EchoStar boosted its inventory and added installation and call center staff to improve customer service moves that took their toll on operating efficiencies.
