I have two 2TB WD My Book ehd's that work great, but my new 3TB WD My Book w/ USB 3.0 will not format.

Has any found a work-around for this?

The size limit for VIP DVR's is 2TB. IIRC, it would still format the EHD, but would say that it is too large after the format is completed.

The 211 family is 1TB

I don't think the 3TB will work

Thanks, I guess I'll use the 3TB on my PC.

I sounds as though USB 3.0 is not an issue. Is that true? I ask because I was looking at a 2TB WD My Book w/ USB 3.0.

Mahalo.

An USB 3.0 device is backwards compatible with a 2.0 host. It will just talk at the 2.0 speeds (or 1.1 if that is all you got).

Exactly! To the OP: don't expect any better performance with a USB 3.0 HDD connection other than USB 2.0 speeds as all current ViP's are USB 2.0.
