Can these be made to work on FTA systems or are they solely for the subscription systems ?
We are getting PBS on 125 West quite reliably and an EPG would be a big help

EPG's are mainly for subscription systems, in most case broadcasters do not include the EPG data in their data streams.

I've noticed Russia Today on 97W now has a EPG

There are workarounds on a HTPC (home theater PC) but takes a bit work.

Over the years I seem to remember seeing about six or eight total viewable (not encrypted) channels that had EPG available. I know there has been talk of the religious broadcasters on 97W (a.k.a. GloryStar) putting something together, can't come too soon I say.
