I was wondering if the time had come to get an 4k wally or are there still better times coming down the pipe line.
Scott said to wait awhile back and has there been anything improved since the summit, or is there any time line

I think it has been discussed before and it would require a Hopper+...
However, a 4K Wally (which was the original question) definitely would not require a Hopper+.

That would be huge! Did I miss an announcement that said that a 4K Wally is actually coming soon? I have been asking for that for years. The only way I could see a new Wally requiring a Hopper+ would be if it is also capable of integrating with a Hopper, which would also be a very huge deal!

But there is no 4K Wally in the pipeline while there is a Joey 4 coming and it does 4K, HDR, and does Android apps. The Hopper+ and Joey 4 are both tied to the Android apps and that is their selling point.

Too bad. I like the flexibility of being able to use the Wally independently without needing a Hopper, unlike any model of Joey. For the same monthly equipment fee (Wally vs. Joey) I always thought the Wally is a better value.

I doubt we'll ever see significant 4K programming delivered via satellite, they might find a way to incorporate 4K streaming in for some channels through the STBs, but by that point the entire pay TV model might be dead.

sorry about that, I meant 4k Joey in my original question, don't know why I said Wally. Gotta get more sleep apparently.

That's okay, it gave us something to talk about. Nobody else was taking the bait about the 4K Wally, so I thought I'd chime in, since that is something I actually have been wanting for a long time. If enough people agree, and keep this discussion going, then maybe Dish will see it and realize that there actually is demand for such a receiver.

Don't waste your money on a 4K Joey. You cannot get any 4K channels (540 channels) on it, no matter what Dish says. It seems that all 4K channels are 4K HDR these days and the 4K Joey simply does not work with 4K HDR even if your tv is 4K HD. I've jumped through all of those hoops already.
