I'm surprised that they cancelled it almost 2 months out with no attempt to postpone it, but I'm even more surprised that they didn't just decide to televise recorded performances instead of live since voting is all done over the phone anyway. They actually addressed this on their website, saying something to the effect of, the live atmosphere is an integral part of the event. Whatever, guys. Seems to me you missed an opportunity to give people a much-needed dose of entertainment! I'm evidently not the only one who thinks so, since online fan communities have already started having their own unofficial voting contests with the preview videos! Anyway, next year's is still going to be at the same venue since they were the last winner, and participating countries have been given the option to send the same performers if they wish instead of having another selection round, but they'll have to come up with new songs since this year's won't be fresh.
