Yes you can use WD as long as it is above 40GB and Dish says up to 750GB but you can go up tp 1.5TB as long as it is one hard drive, and is self powered, not powered through the ViP622.

Kind of on the same subject, and I hope to not high jack the thread, but if I set up an external drive on my 622, can I also then use it to view stuff on my 612?
