I had a customer who we needed to install an IR extender for.

I wanted to do it with CAT5 but didn't want to make a mess splicing a thin wire with electrical tape.

Found an RJ45 jack with screw connections, cut off the wires and used scotch locks to make the connections.

Took my hot glue gun and secured the wire behind the jack.

Look at the results

The cable was so thin and there was a string next to the copper wire on the IR repeater wires.

I had doubts that the screw terminal was going to pinch off the copper wire if I tied it down too tight

The wire was like a 26 or 28 gauge. Crazy hard to try to properly strip.

i doubt they even have terminals for wire that small, at least if you didn't want to wait three weeks while it shipped from china.

how far is the antenna going? seems like it might not have enough juice if you have to go too far?
