Can anyone recommend one ? Brand and model that you know works fine ? Are you limited to 2TB and under ?

Most folks go automatically to any Western Digital, SELF-POWERED (not USB). Yes, 2T max.
 
Thx. A self powered in still hooks up it the hopper via USB right ?
