Guys, can anyone point me in the right direction of where I can go. Can I indeed, store my saved recordings I have on my DVRs to an external HD? And if so, how do I play them?

Any help is appreciated.

I have the silver HDDVR...think its an HR20 and a black HDDVR...HR21?

Yes, you can use an External Hard Drive for storing recordings.

The HR 20 series I know for sure, there has been some discreferency about using one with the HR21's series.
Some say you cannot use them with the HR21's, I don't have one (HR21), so I cannot tell you.

Many of us use the Seagate EHD's with pretty very good success, there are alot of other makes that will work as well.

Regardless, make sure you get one that has a ESATA connection.

Seagate FAP's do NOT work with HR-21's. I would look for something more generic that works with everything.

There are a lot of solutions posted here and on DBSTalk.
