Is there any REAL difference in using a regular ol' F connector coupler (barrel) and one that is HD compatible when connecting two cables that will pass off-air signals?
The cable hasn't changed since digital transmission, so why would one need a "special" barrel?

So someone can make extra money somewhere. Lol

For off-air signals, or any "non satellite" signal it makes no difference. It is arguable about it making a difference on satellite frequencies (above 1000 MHz). FWIW they are called f-81 fittings.
