FM Radio is Being Nixed From New Vehicles, Too
Rivian’s new R2 electric SUV will concerningly require an internet connection to listen to music or radio, omitting AM and FM radio entirely.
My take on this, is its just a way for more people to CHARGE for something we all already have.![]()

I use SXM for 90% of my listening.
If you're going to pick features, ensure they are optional features (like interior lighting or driving lamps), as safety features aren't optional.you wanna honk your horn that will be 14.99 please you need to use your turn signals that will be another 19.99
Wasn''t a radio optional on cars back in the 60s-70s?
Car radios became standard in most new cars during the early 1960s, after the first car radios appeared in the 1930s. The path from luxury option to everyday equipment unfolded over several decades across markets.
while i was being funny. if i have something like heated seats installed there's no way in hell i'm paying for a subscription to keep my ass warm in the winter. If you're going to pick features, ensure they are optional features (like interior lighting or driving lamps), as safety features aren't optional.
It is possible to be correct and funny at the same time.
47 year ASE master tech here, and you Sir are correct. Now the whole idea of OBD2 was for us to be able to diagnose and repair cars but on quite a few manufactures we now have to pay for access to the central gateway to do this. And now they are trying to do away with the right to repair completely. Problem is dealerships have tech shortages and parts on back order. It is going to become normal to have your car sit at a dealership for months if not longer to get repaired and will more than likely not be right. Keep in mind that fancy pickup you bought was pushing $110k. I have money, but there is a reason that I have known of for years that I drive a 1998 Chevy K1500 and a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis!new cars will be rolling subscriptions!!!! you wanna honk your horn that will be 14.99 please you need to use your turn signals that will be another 19.99![]()

Wasn't that BMW that tried that for a Minute ?while i was being funny. if i have something like heated seats installed there's no way in hell i'm paying for a subscription to keep my ass warm in the winter.
72 doge dart with points!I always keep at least one EMP proof, zombie apocalypse vehicle at my disposal in my undisclosed underground bunker in the desert. Dwell meter, timing light, spare points, condenser, distributor cap, rotor and plugs in my bug out bag ready to go.![]()
I didn't know that was still happening on the BMW.Tried my ass, they are still doing it. So is Stalinist Witch is Chrysler Fiat and now Ford and GM are trying to do it. Right to repair is going away. Trump is trying to block it. You are just renting your new car. Subscriptions and has to go to the dealer for months or years to get repaired. Not doomsday but am. You will never own your car again, just a long term rental thatwill sit at a dealership for a year waiting on parts. It is real folks. Plus never forget they are tracking you 24/7. I am not a conspiracy person but trust me, your car is tracking every move you make from eye movements to restporations They will use the kill switch if they think you are impaired or have high anxiety. Welcome to the new world were all freedoms are lost.
Your right, add them to the list !Jimbo,, you left out all the flock cameras installed every were that have telemetry and other functions that communicate with them.
