First they wanted to cancel AM radio. Now FM is in the crosshairs.

Your right, add them to the list !
We are to point that big brother is always watching in my little town the police force has doubled its size and installed over 20 flock cameras.small city but a whole new fleet of police Chevy Suburbans of course in the new stealth paint. Not looking for problems, but looking to make problems. And I am a police supporter. Democrat mayor, gay pride everywhere and a new fleet to right tickects that will never be recovered for the price of those Suburbans. PS If you are a bicyclist, you can brake any rules of the road, but hit one doing something stupid and you will be in jail.

A cousin in Florida bought a new Rambler in the 60"s. He said his choice was a radio or heater as options. He took the radio.
In Florida that would make sense. I loved my Rambler. It got MPG's in the high 20's / low 30's way back then. I was poor so that helped with my fuel bill. The only issue I remember were the windshield wipers. My Rambler didn't have electric motors. Instead they ran off engine vacuum. When you were idling or driving easy it wasn't a big deal. If you had to accelerate hard to get out of a situation the wipers would pretty much stop. You know, when you needed them most. :)

The car knows, by the phone in the device charging area, who is likely driving. The car can also report what manner of driving you're doing for both warranty and insurance purposes.
Until you get out of the car and walk away ...
At least you know where the car is if someone else has taken it.

The people in charge can find a car, without your phone ...

My point was, the Car Owner, if you have your phone, always knows where your car is these days.

Also, if I know where my Car is, I'm sure the manufacture could also find it if necessary (may not be legal) but the potential is there.

All of that will definitely be considerations in any future shopping for cars newer than 2010

Wasn''t a radio optional on cars back in the 60s-70s?

Your not that old ... if your saying A/C was an option.
I remember when there was no A/C option ...
Do you remember when you had to hand crank the windows (I'm sure you do).

I remember when there was no A/C option ...
Air Conditioning ("Weather Conditioner") was a factory option in model year 1940 Packards.

In 1930, external swamp coolers were available.

Cadillac offered the first climate control ("Comfort Control") in 1964.
