I had dish installed about 2 months ago. I was a 15 year cable user, made the switch and couldn't be happier. I got a VIP722k with my installation and love it. here is my problem and the question: The installer left behind a vip722k in a box and the installed vip722k. the one that is not installed is the one registered to my account and is reported as leased. the one being used is not registered on my account. Why would this happen, and what should I do? I can't sell the extra one as it is registered to me and the other one is in use.

thanks guys
I look forward to reading many many interesting topics on this forum

Welcome. I think it's obvious you need to call Dish and tell then what happened. They will probably send someone to get the extra. They might change the numbers so you don't have to switch out machines. I am surprised this was not caught already. Why? Who knows!! I'd also suggest you ask for Tech Support. !

In order to activate the 722 they would have needed to call in R and S numbers on the receiver. If they called in the numbers for the one sitting in the box, the one that is connected would not activate.

How are you confirming what receiver is actually linked to your account? When you go to the Sys Info screen, are the R & S numbers corresponding to what is showing on your account or what is on the install paperwork?
