This may seem a stupid remark but once you browse the firmware you want to put on your STB you should press upload not download on the software loader. I think you just copied the firmware to your pc

Pretty sure that when I use stbtool, download sends to the receiver and upload copies from the receiver.

But I guess that could be different for different software.

Here are some screen shots, notice that the STB still didn't reset to the original factory specs. You will see a blurry WJXT listing when you hit the channels. That should not even be there after a firmware reset.

When you try to enter those master codes to override the pincode...nothing changes....the pin code prompt doesn't go away....that is the origin of the whole problem...I need to change the pin code...and I can't...so a factory reinstall is the only hope...but that does not seem to be working.

Thanks for everyone patience and helpful suggestions....

Can you restore factory defaults ? That should clear the channel, at least.

That is what I am trying to accomplish with the firmware update, otherwise I am locked out from using this on 97W. I tried all the master codes to over ride the pin number, and it is not working.

Normally when it came to radio scanners and ham equipment..usually pressing Function or menu while switching it on would clear the radio to factory default. Normally a firmware update would/should clear pretty much anything to factory default.

Found the pin code

Searching many sites, I finally found it on a "tester" site.

1004

This master pin code code worked, but it still does not explain why the factory reset did not work.

Suffice to say I was able to unlock it and scan 97West and the receiver works good.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
