FOX Business Network (FBN) has launched on DISH Network to four million subscribers while FOX News Channel (FNC) has renewed its carriage agreement with the satellite television provider, announced Tim Carry, the network’s senior vice president of affiliate relations. The deal expands FBN’s total distribution to nearly 50 million homes nationwide.

Starting today, FBN will be available on channel 206 through DISH Network’s Classic Gold 250, formerly known as America’s Top 250 package. FNC will move to channel 205 on Classic Bronze 100, formerly known as America’s Top 100 package, increasing its distribution to more than 11 million DISH Network subscribers. Both networks will be available to DISH subscribers in HD.

In making the announcement, Carry said, "We’re pleased to count DISH Network as our newest FBN affiliate and look forward providing their subscribers with up-to-the-minute breaking business news reports during one of the most important times in our history for financial news.”

He also added, "The inclusion of FOX News on Classic Bronze 100 is a milestone for the network. We are grateful for the opportunity DISH Network has given FOX News to continue to expand our audience as the number one cable news provider in the country.”

DISH Network is the nation's third largest pay-TV provider with more than 13.78 million subscribers nationwide. The satellite television company provides customers with both HD and DVR technology including the HD DuoDVR™ ViP® 722, which received the Editors’ Choice awards from both CNET and PC Magazine.

FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour general news service covering breaking news as well as political, entertainment and business news. For more than seven years, FNC has been the most-watched cable news channel in the country. Owned by News Corp., FNC is currently available in more than 90 million homes.

FOX Business Network (FBN) is a financial news channel delivering real-time information across all platforms that impact both Main Street and Wall Street. Headquartered in New York—the business capital of the world—FBN launched in October 2007 and is available in nearly 50 million homes in major markets across the United States. Owned by News Corp, the network has bureaus in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, DC and London. On the web at www.foxbusiness.com.

I know a lot of customers that will be happy.

Yeah glad they got it I just wish it was in the Sliver plan instead of the Gold..

That should make some happy. There, now it's in the same pack as CNN.

One odd thing about the numbers. Fox News HD is in family, too, but it says putting it AT100 gives it to over 11M subs. But 13.8M have dish. What do these other 2.5 million or so subs have? Dish Latino, or other international packs? Can't be that many HD Absolutes.

Also, with it in AT100 'Classic Bronze", it should eventually turn up in TurboHD Bronze, right?

Looks like there was some contractual back and forth to settle the disagreement the two had:

Dish - OK, we'll put FNC in all of our packages, but if people want FBC, they'll have to get one of our top packages.

Fox - Um, OK.

Good observation. If that's the case, I always thought the Dish Latino and International packages was higher than 2.5 millions. Guess I was wrong.

Saw this in a programming notice this morning, "Effective on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, Fox News HD will be available to customers as part of the BronzeHD & higher packages." Thought something might be up (like a package change) but wasn't certain... looks like there was :)

"Both networks will be available to DISH subscribers in HD."

Anybody getting foxbusiness in hd yet?

Nope, not yet (on 61.5)

What I can't figure out is why getting these channels (both SD and now HD) has become such a tortuous process.

Did we have these problems with the last HD channels added? Don't they basically all just show up at more or less the same time for everyone?

Maybe this was an unexpected launch for Dish and they didn't have time to do their usual preparatory work.

Who knows?

So just for the Gold package? What about those with TurboHD subs?

Just was online with Dish Tech support. Tech said they are still in the process of adding Fox News HD to their various packages. I asked when it would happen, he couldn't give me an answer- seemed somewhat vague and in the dark.

Meanwhile, Fox News, which has topped the cable news ratings for more than seven years, will move to the top tier of Dish's channel lineup, included in the package known as the Classic Bronze 100. This group of channels is seen by more than 11 million of Dish Network's nearly 14 million subscribers.

After reading the news release how can they say it will be available to 11 million, do all 11 mil have HD boxes? They say fox will be added to the bronze pac not AT100
