FOX News Channel/DISH dispute

Let's just hope that Dish puts him on their bad customer list and refuse to accept him in the future if he wants to come back.
He sounds like the type of person who is ushered out the door and told never to come back.
Hard to keep track of which opportunistic ******** you're speaking of, but regardless...:amen

$30.00 off for the next 6 months (got connected to the retention department). CSR started with $5, then went to $10, followed by $20 and then finally $30.00. As much as I'd rather have the channels, $180.00 will help pay for the cost of an alternative during this most recent pissing match.

Im gonna post something to some of those reading and not posting. This is not really in reaction to some of the more recent posts, so I just want to make that clear.

"***You acknowledge and agree that DISH shall have the right to change: (A)any and all prices, fees and charges at anytime and from time to time, including, without limitation, during any term commitment to which you have agreed; (B) packages, programming, programming suppliers, services offered by programming suppliers, features and functionality at any time and from time to time, including, without limitation, during any term commitment to which you have agreed;AND (C) your payment terms if you fail to make payments by your payment due date.
***You are still bound by this Agreement (including, without limitation, the RCA) if you change your residence.
***Do not sign this Agreement until you have read the entire Agreement (including, without limitation, the RCA).***"

This is on the front page in big bold letters with stars around it and even underlined on the contract. If anyone looked once at the contract, this would stand out. It is right dead center of page one, and is enforced when necessary. Not fine print. I included links so that you folks may check out out yourself.

This is just because I came back from my camping trip, and read through the 153 missed messages, and saw this pop up a few times, and not be addressed. Hopefully some of those that see it, and think it voids the contract, now know otherwise.

Yea so?

You as the subscriber paying the monthly bill hold all the cards. Without you, there is no Dish network.

The contract isn't worth the paper it's written on. One complaint to the BBB or attorney general and you can usually get out of it. That's not only holds true for Dish, but Directv, comcast, AT&T and any other provider that requires a contract.

They are times the #1 cable channel, not just news channel. They recently beat the network news something thought would never happen. O'reilly is one of the most watched programs there is. What are you talking about? When he is getting near 3 million viewers CNN is getting around 500,000 if lucky and very often they get less. I don't think CNN or MSNBC are even often in the list. The phones at DISH are jammed for a reason. I don't remember posts when AMC was off that had waits likes this.
I'm not saying anyone has to like Fox News but you are burying your head in the sand if you think Fox news isn't a big deal to be off.

Given how many cable channels there are now no one channel can amass an audience like many years ago, so the best indication is compared to others how is a channel doing.

I'm a regular on TVBTN.

0.2 is HORRIBLE in the key demo and he was lucky that it's the holiday season or the top 100 would've never made it that far down.

Also how is a .2 in the demo the #1 cable channel? You know USA is the #1 cable channel right? You know The Walking Dead is the #1 cable show right?

Your link proved my case for me.

Fox News Enlists Consumers In Dish Network Fee Dispute http://finance.yahoo.com/news/fox-news-goes-dark-dish-054353040.html Dish Network Bans Fox News After Contract Expires http://www.ibtimes.com/dish-network-bans-fox-news-after-contract-expires-1764316
Fox News encouraged fans to switch to another television provider, and the two companies took turns trading insults. Dish replaced Fox News with conservative cable channel The Blaze, a network owned by Glenn Beck. It also replaced the Fox Business channel with CNBC. Fox News has never been blacked out by a major television distributor in its 18-year history."Dish prematurely ceased distribution of Fox News in an attempt to intimidate and sway our negotiations," Tim Carry, Fox News executive vice president of distribution, said in a statement early Sunday. The New York-based broadcaster today introduced a website, keepfoxnews.com, that allows visitors to type in their zip code and find other pay-TV operators. Tim Carry, executive vice president for distribution at the network, said the site has generated 22,000 e-mails and 7,000 phone calls requesting that Dish reinstate the channel.

My only complaint about Dish EVER, is that they are bending over too far to the money grabbers, AKA generation "G" ( GIMME!)

I can't like this post enough. Several years back (before my promotions), I was an account specialist, who you get transferred to when you threaten to cancel. I was in that position for AMC, and we sadly gave away way too much money in 2012 for that. It affected the price increase in 2013, it severely reduced the tools at my disposal to then keep customers in the months afterward. That department has a budget, and things like this eat into it. The 2015 price increase is already cast in stone, but I expect all the demands for compensation (when, frankly, none is warranted...the contract is very clear), will affect how much (or how LITTLE) those agents will be able to use to save customers. It will also affect future price increases.

So, those of you who are simply scrambling for freebies, thinking it's magic money that falls from trees, don't complain when the discount offers you enjoy are no longer available. If there is a price increase you did not expect. If the 2016 price increase is huge. If you call and threaten to cancel, and you're not offered any more than $10/month. I can tell you, the greedy opportunists taking advantage of this WILL affect the business rules for account specialists in the next few months.

Each action has an equal and opposite reaction.

As opposed to the generation that simply bends over and takes what they "Dish" out? My conscience will let me sleep just fine tonight.
Man this thread is getting vile. So hard to believe it has anything to do with the Fox News Channel.

Just a couple of thoughts. There are two hot threads, the Fox takedown, and the 2015 price increase. Not directly related, but in many ways, they are. I wonder if the same people complaining about the potential price increase are the same ones that get mad when Dish refuses to pay what a provider is requesting?
Or, conversely, if the same people who defend the price increases in that other thread also insist here that Charlie is justified in these these channel disputes because he keeps prices so low?

Dish does a lot of things right, but waking up to find Glenn Beck in place of the hotties I am used to every morning has crossed the line.
So....you choose your source of news and information based on the attractiveness of the newsreaders?

I hope you don't choose your doctors or elected officials that way.

If you call the better business bureau and complain that Dish won't let you out of a contract for dropping channels..you will get a call back in 3 hours or less from Dish rep letting you out of said contract..I know this from PERSONAL experience
Yeah some folks don't know what it means to honor a commitment when they sign a contract. Kind of sad actually.
