Well I went to a Doctor's Office the other day and this dish caught my eye.
Not the dish itself that really caught my eye.

I think I've got the purpose figured out, so I thought I'd let you all take a guess.

The first image is a cropped version of the second original image a 1.0 MB 7MP image

Looks like a GSM-based internet access point (Canopy) device by Motorola with a reflector dish.

Wi-Fi... I've heard point-to-point Wi-Fi is a good use for 18-20" dishes. Some even use Primestars for it, but that's a hanging offense in this household :D ...

*sigh* I guess I really did need a side-shot.
With a side shot, the elevation looks standard for a regular Dish Network dish

working theory

I think the little device is to keep bird poop off the dish

Mind you this is only a working theory

it's a Dish 500 reflector 'n mount, but . . .

*sigh* I guess I really did need a side-shot.

If it's a wi-fi USB stick mounted in place of the LNB, it's sure hard to tell from this angle.
And, if the elevation is standard, then the wi-fi dongle would have to be higher than the LNB throat to shoot along the ground...
... reducing the efficiency of the reflector tremendously.

I really can't tell on this LCD monitor.

Mystery dish revealed

Sorry for taking so long to get the pictures.

Well with the these new pictures you can definitely see what it is.
Per usual, the first 2 are cropped while the latter are the full size images.

While I was browsing around this weekend, I ran into a thread dealing directly with what that thing on the arm is.
It is a Sirius/XM outdoor antenna kit bolted on to a "Dish 300"

What I originally thought it was a Dish 500 with "conduit hanger" holding the Sirius/XM antenna at the Focal point.
Since a 500 is aimed at 114W and Sirius/XM have a Satellite at 115W, I thought someone was ensuring no amount of interference would let the Sirius/XM radio go out.

I was all pumped that someone used their head to come up with something useful.
