I am trying to setup a FTA with the CW-700S with 36" Dish and I am running to some problems. I am trying to receive the RTP International by setting the Dish to 101.0 West AMC-4. Right now my CW-SF95 Satellite Finder meter is showing Solid Red, regardless what I do, by turning off the CW-700S receiver OFF and On, it does not change. The Signal strenghth is about 30% only. I have not been able to get anything better. I hope someone can help.

Me personally... I would not use the satellite signal finder.

If you can, connect the receiver and a small TV right at the dish and use the signal meter on the receiver to help aim your dish.

All signal strength means ...is that your LNB is working. You can get 40% percent signal strength pointing at the ground.

Quality is what matters. If someone is getting 80% signal strength and no quality..there are not going to receive anything. You want Quality and signal strength.

See picture in the next post I left......

See example in my picture.

Probably need to adjust skew of lnbf to get 'quality' reading, once you target the satellite and have an active transponder selected you should get signal and quality.

OP location is Texas which is near 101W (I think TS is 95 or 97W) so skew is minimal

Do you have the right transponder info logged in? RTPI changed a while back and older receivers have the old info in them

Thanks for your response.
I finally completed the Dish installation today, by aiming it to 101.0W AMC-4 at 181.7 Deg. Azimuth (mag.) and to 54.3 Deg. elevation to try to receive the RTP International TV Channels and also Radio signals.
My signal strenghth is about 59% and the quality is about 90%.
I now can see a list of many TV and Radio channels listed on the screen, but I am not able to see either one's.
I keep getting the "Scramble" message, whether I scan for all the channels or only FTA channels.
Just wondering, if I need to register the CW-700S receiver and how do I go about doing that?
I hope you can help.

Getting scrambled channels when you scan for FTA only is puzzling, but, are you sure you're on 101W? What are some of the channel names that you're getting?

You definitely don't need to register your receiver with anyone to receive RTPI or the other FTA channels.

Again, thanks for your response.
My setup, it lists the following TV and Radio channels.
But I can not see or hear any of them.
The TV channels message are all "Scrambled"
TV Channels Quality Strength
===========================================
1 = TV English 99% 60%
2 = TV Latino 99% 60%
3 = Tan TV Guide 84% 71%
4 = Tan 7/CBS 83% 71%
5 = Apostolic 84% 71%
6 = Gospel Music TV 83% 70%
7 = Esperanza TV 99% 68%
8 = Hope Channel 99% 68%
9 = ATN/ACN Service 1 99% 68%
10 = ATN Service 2 99% 68%
11 = Prog 1 89% 60%
12 = ENC 11 Test 83% 76%
13 = ENC 12 Test 83% 76%
14 = ENC-11-AC3 83% 76%
15 = ENC-12-AC3 83% 76%
16 = TRWAM 87% 80%
17 = CGN TV 87% 80%
18 = BVN 87% 80%

Radio Channels Quality Strength
===========================================
1 = 3ABN Radio 99% 61%
2 = Radio 74 99% 60%
3 = Lifetalk Radio 99% 68%
4 = Radio MaryJA 87% 80%
5 = BVN RNN 1 Radio 87% 80%
6 = BVN RNN 2 Radio 87% 80%
7 = BVN RNN 3 Radio 87% 80%
8 = BVN RNN 5 Radio 87% 80%
9 = BVN RNN 6 Radio 87% 80%
10 = BVN RVi Radio 87% 80%
11 = Radio MIR 87% 80%

My setup is the following
===========================================
Sattelite name: 30Ku_AMC 4 (101W)
Tried the following transponder with positive signals
11822/H/5700/2/3
11983/H/5900/2/3
12020/H/2034/3/4 to try to see if I can get the RTP International.
As you can see it does not list the RTP International in the above
TV or Radio channels list.
LNB Freq: 10750
22KHz: set to: Auto, also tried On and OFF
DiSeq: No
Motorized: No

This is the transponder for RTP International , you might have to enter it manually. Or do a "blind scan" or "ALL" .

12032 H 3003

Last time I looked they were FTA.

After adding the 12032/H/3003/3/4 in the transponder section, it now lists the RTPi America channel even though I still can not view it because, it's still is showing the "Scrambled" message.

Are there any setting on the setup, that I may be directed to?
Earlier, I thought I saw something like the mpg2 vs mpg4 video format, that could cause the "Scrambled" message issue.
Just wondering if there is any option for me to change that, and where in the setup?

I am just wondering.
In the Installation and Operation manual section 4.1 Installation of the CW-700S it shows that I need to input a password.
As I recall, it never prompt me to enter any password.
Just wondering if this could cause the "Scrambled" problem.

I wonder if you need to do a factory restore or a firmware update, FTA channels should never come up as scrambled.

Did you buy the receiver new? Or used?

The password should only be for restricting childrens' access to the unit. I would think that if it was a password issue, it would say something other than "scrambled". Plus, there really are some scrambled channels on that satellite, but your scan didn't detect any of them, only the unscrambled ones.

It sounds like the receiver isn't working right for some reason. If there's an option anywhere on the menu to reset it to the factory default configuration, try that.

Just a thought, is it set for NTSC or PAL ?

The password issue should be limited to entering a password. The Most common one by default is 0000 , but even then it should not show up as scrambled.

I just reset to the factory default settings and set up for the correct settings without any good results.
I was able to get a list of additional channels, but it still showing the "Scrambled Channels" message.
It appears that the only solution, is to return the CW-700S receiver.

That doesnt seem right that its showing scrambled channel even though most are free

The list you posted above all the channels are free
