Funky Colors

Hi,

For the past several months the colors on the screen (all channels) will momentarily change to all reds,greens,blues. This will typically last for 10-15 seconds and then clear instantly. During this the sound is fine and the picture sharp. It will happen every 15-30 minutes or sometimes not at all--very random. We thought that the television was the problem so we bought another one but it still does it. I removed a dvd recorder to test and it still does it. From my limited knowledge, all that is left is either the receiver (DRD420RE), the LNB or the coaxial cable. Any thoughts to where I should start to trouble shoot??

How is the receiver connected to the TV? If s-video, try the composite or the other way around.

We have both--tried each on independently. At this point it seems that it is likely the receiver (at least 7 yrs old).

Thanks Guys!! Do you know if I pick up a new receiver from Ebay, can I call up DTV and have it activated?? What info would I need to give them (model number,card number,ect.)???

I would avoid using eBay. You might end up with a leased unit, which you won't be able to activate. I would call Directv and get it from them. It might even be free!
