I see Buena Vista color bars read Galaxy 16 for the changeover tomorrow.
If G4 is to last 15 years and was put up in 2000, why is G16 replacing it so soon? Where is G4 moving?
What's the wattage for G16 compared to G4?
I see T6 is 20 watts. What is the wattage of the other c-band birds?

Good questions Mike, I hope someone has the answers. It seems to me that the C-band birds of the 70's and early 80's were like 4 watts. When they put up Satcom F3 it had mixed watts on it, with every 4th channel having double wattage in an experiment. When they started putting up the DBS ku birds, I think they were like 16 watts. I'm trying to remember from a long time back and I'm doing some guessing and I still don't know any of your answers. Hope someone else does. I would also like to know.

Al

Thanks for the information especially from digiblur and kurtsat.

AMC 1 c-band is 16 watts. I couldn't find anything on others. I read somewhere once recently the "cable" satellites are 40 watts.
