Galaxy 17 is a C band only bird. SBS 6 will be replaced with Horizons 2 sometime within the next 6-8 months.

SBS 6 is the last of what remains of the original SBS fleet (SBS1 - SBS 5). I think Intelsat knows the time is near for SBS6 retirement since they have a filing to request permission to operate Galaxy 17 at 74.05 deg W until the end of the year, by which time Horizons-2 should be operating if all goes well. Worse case scenario, Galaxy 17 replaces Galaxy 11 since Galaxy 17 is already granted operation at 91 degrees West and maybe Galaxy 11 will go to 74.05 deg W as it continues to experience solar array fog up and power generation degradation.

Galaxy 17 has 24 Cband and 24 Ku transponders:

It's possible that Galaxy 17 will only be an in-orbit spare at 74 degrees West and they will still use SBS 6 until Horizons 2 is launched. Galaxy 9 (Cband only) is also located at 74 degrees West.
