Just let us enjoy the sounds of the stadium during commerical breaks on the wildfeed/backhaul telecasts. It's a PPV package. Does the NHL enforce this? if so I will be giving them my 4 cents.

well if they were receiving the backhaul they could probably do that, but they arent

Yes the NHL is the ones that do this. I have seen it on Cable also.

They do that so that you can not hear the announcers chatter during the commercials. At least that his my assumption.

The Commercial Slate covers commercials from the source feed. So it's either the slate or commercials, no crowd noises.

if they are actually getting a backhaul, lots of times you either get
-a black screen
-just a high view of the arena
-watching the production guys rewind and get a replay ready
-the sideline reporter doing an interview which will get replayed when they come back

Ahh, the good old days of satellite dishes - I remember when we used to get all of the CBS NFL games on one satellite, the same satellite that would have a dozen NBA and NHL broadcast backhauls going at the same time. And all 'free.' I miss that!

Of course we also has most of the NBC games on one Ku satellite too.
