Getting ready to get Direct Tv and have a few questions

Well i am finally ready to get Direct tv service but have a few questions.
1. should i order from Direct TV directly or are there better deals through third party sites. ( if so which sites )
2. I have had an old TIVO R10 box given to me, will it will work.
3. I thought of another question, Can you transfered recorded shows off the hr20, like the tivo2go feature?

I think the R10 will work, but I am not sure. Anyone else with one?
There is no good way to transfer shows from an HR20.
