Got my external hard drive today

When I had dish the first time years ago I was able to hook up a dvd recorder and record stuff off the dvr onto dvd. Tried it when I had uverse and most things had some copyright deal and couldn't be recorded and the stuff that you could record was horrible quality once on the dvd. Haven't tried yet on hopper

Works good from the Hopper too.

Can you have folders on an external hard drive like you can on hopper ?

Only Folders by Title. You can't create folders on the EHD as far as I know.

Charles , Have you run into anything that it wouldn't let you record onto a dvd via a dvd recorder from the hopper ? Like a message saying ' this can't be recorded due to copyright ' or something like that ?

I have never seen that message. Only done it once since I switched to HWSs. With VIP 722ks I may have made maybe three DVDs that I can remember with no issues.
