I have seen channel 1 VOD pop up on mine as well because I hit the wrong button or something and I never rented any movies so that doesn't mean he rented a movie because it was on that channel.
Yes, it does mean exactly that. The VOD channel 1 can not be the channel showing when you turn on your receiver, or I will qualify, it can't on my VIP612, UNLESS you were actually watching it. It goes to channel 101 otherwise, or the first channel higher than it in your guide if you pick channel 1, then see you need a password, don't do anything else and turn off the receiver. Turn it back on and it will not be on channel 1. If you actually were watching a movie, and turn it off, yes, the receiver can be back to VOD 1, but you will need to re-enter the password.
That's the first thing.
Second, it amazes me what people will blame a company for, in this case Dish. Lets be clear, the VOD 1 channel can have a password protection, and/or, can be completely eliminated from all guides. If you choose a password your son or daughter can figure out, that is the fault of Dish how??
Go ahead, call your Attorney General if you want to make fool of yourself. There are plenty of ways to keep others from ordering movies built in.
In the case of the OP, someone in his family has figured out the password, if he is correct and there is a password, it's the only way the receiver can be tuned to it after being off. He said many times it has been on channel 1 when he turns on the receiver, well that's probably why he has a $60 bill.
