Gray Media Channels Return To Dish network

Our Lexington CBS and CW stations were dropped, but doesn't really matter to me. I don't watch CBS or CW except for the Xfinity races sometimes. Nothing but crap anyways. If something doesn't change broadcast tv is gone.

WNDU is the NBC Affiliate In South Bend, IN, and owned by Grey. I'm sure they're off of Dish, but since I have the OTA dongle on my Hopper 3 and Football season is past, I don't need to pay Dish for what I can get OTA for free (well, I bought an antenna 30+ years ago after we moved in to our current house, so the Televés UHF antenna I bought from the UK ages ago is fully-depreciated). Last night, we had WNDU on OTA to follow the severe weather as it tracked through their viewing area. If we were reliant on Dish for our Locals, then we wouldn't have had them available. Grey should lose their broadcast license as they are obviously NOT acting in the Public Interest, but their bottom line.

AutoHop is specific to PTAT via the Hopper. If you're recording locals via OTA, you will not get the PTAT AutoHop functionality.
brittanygarden, AutoHop does work on recorded OTA channels for PTAT channels. Yesterday I set three OTA CBS PTAT channel timers for last nite (Tuesday). Today all three recordings have AutoHop. Not only that, in the St Louis area we have CBS eight day restriction before AutoHop is available. AutoHop is working next day. In my Hopper 3 Plus I have PTAT enabled, subscribe to the Dish local package, and using the dual OTA adapter.

Man grey is getting desperate. They post stuff like this without saying they are trying to raise the rates on something they give away for FREE with antenna.

I stopped watching WFSB local news several years ago - IMO they have turned into a tabloid news station - more concerned with ratings than actual real reporting. I know this was a Grey press release, but just further evidence.

Another thing to point out ...
DISH did NOT pull the Stations, GREY Forced them to remove them.
I'm sure we're right back to the age-old dueling narrative as to "who" took away the channel(s), DiSH or the channel owner. If paid channels stop appearing it might be functionally because the provider stopped retransmitting, but it's always causationed by channel owners demanding more and not receiving it. Thus it's always the channels themselves (and not DiSH et al.) that cause shutoffs, by withdrawing retrans consent.

By now we should all be so sick of the nets & their affiliates extorting us all for otherwise free channels they've been gifted spectrum to transmit over that we should be ready to chuck the lot

It's kind of a plus for me losing CBS. By setting OTA CBS timers for my favorite PTAT cannels, I now get next day AutoHope instead of waiting eight days.

You have to wait 8 Days to watch your show if you want Auto Hop ????????

That kinda defeates the purpose ... if I had to do that I'd just stream it the next day.

We usually do stream it next day with no commercials using the Paramount+ app.
We now get next day CBS AutoHop by using OTA timers.

I tested that last night, recording Survivor on my my local OTA CBS station, KPIX. It didn't engage Auto Hop. To be clear, I still have my Dish CBS as well.
Do you mean the AutoHop is there but it doesn't work? I didn't actually try it out. When I get home I will try it out.

Bobby, I just tried out my OTA Survivor recording and next day AutoHop fully works.

Here is my exact details:
We lost CBS service.
When we did have it there was an eight day AutoHop restriction.
We subscribe to Dish locals.
I set an OTA timer.

I don't know why you do not see AutoHop. Strange

I thought my wife would be upset about CBS being gone as that is the network she watched most, but instead she is watching them on Paramount Plus.

If she wants to watch their news there is a WFSB + app which lets you watch the news anytime you want.

Seems as though the networks are taking the affiliates out of the equation. And the local channels are killing themselves by offering their only real local programming (news) for free in a separate app.

Go ahead dish and keep them off. It's ok. :)

In the past when I had a timer set up on ota channel and I also had the hopper set for auto skip and primetime set for each day, my ota stations also got auto skip, if that network didn't have a delay on the amount of days before it kicked in. For example my ABC and NBC stations owned by same company, were no delay and the ota shows would have auto skip on them the next day. My CBS and FOX owned by the same company had a 7 day delay, so I never got auto skip on those two. This even worked when I stopped subscribing to DISH and I kept my hopper 3 hooked up for just ota recordings at least for a year later. It still worked that way. I don't have it hooked up anymore, so I don't know if that changed or not now.

Does anyone even watch local channels any more? Network programming sucks, local news is posted on their website and YouTube. If Dish made me pay for locals I probably wouldn't have the service.
We watch locals almost every night.
Locals are "included" in the packages, so we are paying for them.
